Oak Mountain State Park hotel, conference center plan draws loud public outcry

Facing overwhelming opposition from many of the 200-plus people who spoke about a proposed hotel and conference center at Oak Mountain State Park during a meeting tonight in Pelham, Alabama State Parks Director emphasized that no decision has been reached.

“All we’re doing is exploring the concept of a lodge and conference center at Oak Mountain State Park with the local governments,” Lein said, earlier noting that Shelby County and the City of Pelham brought the idea to the state.
