More States Aim to Protect Hunting

“Alabama state Sen. Hank Sanders, a Democrat who voted against that state’s amendment proposal, said that while he supports hunting and fishing, he didn’t think it was necessary to create a constitutional guarantee for it and worried that the amendment language would be interpreted too broadly.”

Seventeen states have constitutional guarantees enshrining the right to hunt. Similar efforts are now unfolding elsewhere, as some hunters voice concerns over the potential spread of restrictions, such as on using dogs to pursue game.

For Don Knight, little compares to the adrenaline rush and camaraderie he feels heading out with friends to hunt rabbits, raccoons and deer in Alabama.
