PELL CITY — Mayors from around St. Clair County expressed a desire to strengthen animal control laws countywide, following the fatal dog attack that occurred in Riverside over the weekend.

The issue came to light after 5-year-old John Harvard of Riverside was killed in an attack from a pit bulldog, according to authorities. Riverside Mayor Rusty Jessup became emotional discussing the issue on Tuesday at the monthly St. Clair County Mayors Association Breakfast.
