Paul Bussman is the first-term Alabama State Senator, who began the last day of the 2014 regular legislative session by trying to substitute a Senate Special Order Calendar that excluded HB141 (spay-neuter clinics protection bill). When this failed, he began filibustering the calendar process. Although HB141 was the 19th (last) bill on the calendar, Mr. Bussman continued to filibuster.

Ultimately, the Senate leadership relinquished, and a new calendar passed that did not include HB141. Mr. Bussman had completed his task: the obstruction of HB141. The ‘spay-neuter clinic protection bill’ was dead for 2014. The regular legislative session is now over.

This is an election year with political party primaries on June 3rd and the general election on November 4th.
