Times are changing for the puppy-peddlers of Birmingham

New regulations may be coming for those who peddle puppies in Birmingham. City Revenue Examiners are now checking for Birmingham business licenses and notarized letters of permission from property owners may soon be required.

Transient sellers of all kinds of products have become more prevalent in Birmingham during these economically challenging times. For animal advocates, the most disturbing are the puppy-peddlers. They can be seen on any given day, in the depressed areas of Birmingham, where they go un-noticed by law enforcement.

A favorite spot, for the puppy-peddlers, is the parking-lot of the Roebuck shopping center located at 9096 Parkway East. The center houses the Roebuck Post Office, the now-closed Food World, Sal’s Italian Restaurant, and multiple vacant merchant spaces. The center’s owner is located outside the state of Alabama.
